포항 공공도서관은 숲의 결을 따라 흐르는 두 개의 매스가 서로 교차하며 공간과 경관이 겹쳐지는 건축적 풍경을 그립니다.

본관동과 별관동을 가로지르는 녹지축은 자연의 흐름을 건축 안으로 끌어들이며, 실내와 외부가 경계 없이 이어지는 열린 동선을 형성합니다.

4층 매스가 두 동을 연결하며 수직적·수평적 흐름을 잇는 매개가 되어, 기능과 경험의 연속성이 공간 전반에 스며듭니다.

커튼월을 통해 스며든 숲과 빛은 열람 공간과 휴게 공간을 채우며, 이용자들은 자연 속에서 지식의 탐구와 소통을 경험합니다.

이 도서관은 시간과 계절의 변화를 담아내며, 건축과 자연, 지식과 사람을 하나로 엮어낸 살아있는 공간으로, 숲과 도시를 연결하는 지속 가능한 지식의 바깥을 완성합니다.

“An Extension of Knowledge Bridging the Forest”

Pohang Public Library creates an architectural landscape where space and scenery overlap through two intersecting masses that flow along the grain of the forest.

The green axis traversing the main and annex buildings draws the flow of nature inside, forming an open pathway that seamlessly bridges interior and exterior spaces.

The 4th-floor mass connects the two buildings as a mediator linking vertical and horizontal flows, infusing a continuity of function and experience throughout the entire space.

Forest views and sunlight filtering through the curtain walls fill the reading and lounge areas, allowing visitors to explore knowledge and interact within nature.

Capturing the subtle shifts of time and seasons, this library is a living space that weaves together architecture, nature, knowledge, and people—completing a sustainable realm of knowledge that bridges the forest and the city.
