ZIP PLATFORM [ 엮고 연결하는 창업 생태계 ]

서울창업허브 구로의 설계는 단순히 프로그램을 배치하는 행위가 아니라, 각기 다른 기능과 사람들이 유기적으로 엮이며 스스로 관계를 맺는 하나의 생태계를 만들어내는 과정이었다. 

대지의 사다리꼴이라는 비정형성, 북서측 복합청사와 남서측 도로변 도시 맥락, 그리고 공공성과 산업 기능이라는 이중적 요구 속에서 우리는 ‘분리’가 아닌 ‘연결’의 건축을 고민했다.  서울창업허브 구로는 다르기 때문에 나뉘는 것이 아니라, 다름을 그대로 맞물려 엮는 방식으로 건축적 해결을 제시한다.

남서측 도로를 따라 지식산업센터를 배치하고, 북동측에는 연구지원시설을 두어 기능적 영역을 병치하면서도 그 사이를 단절하지 않고 교류의 중정으로 엮었다.  이 중정은 단순한 보이드가 아니라, 수직으로 확장되며 공간마다 다르게 반응하는 열린 심장으로 계획했다.  층이 높아질수록 중정은 더 넓어지고, 마침내 7층에서는 천창을 통해 자연광이 쏟아지며 빛으로 공간을 채운다. 

수평적으로는 제조영역인 마이크로 팩토리와 연구지원, 업무 공간이 서로 스며들도록 배치하고, 수직적으로는 지하의 하역/초도양산에서부터 지상의 연구, 협업, 교류, 그리고 사업화에 이르는 창업의 순환 플로우를 공간에 녹였다. 

남측 오픈스페이스는 단절된 도시 맥락을 회복하는 중요한 연결 지점이다. 인근 주민들이 자유롭게 접근할 수 있는 열린 광장으로 계획하여, 지역 커뮤니티와 창업생태계가 자연스럽게 교차하는 장면을 만들었다. 입면 역시 대지 형상에 맞춰 4.2m 모듈로 분절된 지퍼형 파사드를 구성해, 도시와 건축이 맞물리며 흐름을 형성하는 ZIP PLATFORM의 상징으로 삼았다. 

건축은 틈이 아니라 만남이며, 벽이 아니라 연결이다. 우리는 프로그램과 프로그램, 사람과 사람, 도시와 창업이 맞물리는 이 ‘ZIP PLATFORM’을 통해, 창업을 위한 기능적 기반을 넘어 도시적 풍경과 공동체의 삶을 품은 열린 생태계를 제안한다.

The design of Seoul Startup Hub Guro was not merely an act of arranging programs, but a process of creating an ecosystem where different functions and people are organically woven together to form their own relationships.

Amidst the atypical trapezoidal shape of the site, the urban context of the complex government building to the northwest and the roadside to the southwest, and the dual demands of publicness and industrial functions, we contemplated an architecture of ‘connection’ rather than ‘separation.’ Seoul Startup Hub Guro presents an architectural solution by interlocking and weaving differences together, rather than dividing them because they are different.

Knowledge Industry Centers are placed along the southwestern road, while research support facilities are located on the northeastern side. While juxtaposing these functional zones, they are woven together through a courtyard of exchange without disconnection. This courtyard is not a simple void, but is planned as an open heart that expands vertically and responds differently to each space. As the floors rise, the courtyard widens, and finally, on the 7th floor, natural light pours through the skylight, filling the space with light.

Horizontally, the manufacturing area (Micro Factory), research support, and work spaces are arranged to permeate each other. Vertically, the cyclical flow of entrepreneurship—from underground loading and pilot production to ground-level research, collaboration, exchange, and commercialization—is embedded into the space.

The southern open space is a crucial connection point for restoring the severed urban context. It is planned as an open plaza accessible to nearby residents, creating a scene where the local community and the startup ecosystem naturally intersect. The facade also features a zipper-style system segmented by 4.2m modules following the site's shape, serving as a symbol of the ZIP PLATFORM where the city and architecture interlock to form a flow.

Architecture is not a gap but an encounter; not a wall but a connection. Through this ‘ZIP PLATFORM,’ where program and program, person and person, and the city and startups intermesh, we propose an open ecosystem that embraces urban landscapes and community life beyond a functional foundation for entrepreneurship.
