화성 공룡(자연)과학센터는 공룡 화석이 발견된 땅 위에 세워진 시간의 박물관으로, 지층의 수평성과 수직성에서 착안한 공간 구성과 자연지형을 따라 흐르는 유기적 배치를 통해 건축 그 자체가 하나의 거대한 자연사 전시물이 되도록 계획되었습니다. 전시동 사이마다 자연을 끌어들이는 전이공간이 배치되어 내부의 몰입형 전시와 외부 경관 사이에 감성적 환기를 유도하며, 중앙 중정은 실내와 외부가 만나는 통합정원으로 작동합니다. 관람 동선은 공룡이 살던 시대부터 멸종, 그리고 현대의 발견으로 이어지는 이야기 구조로 설계되어 있으며, 이를 바탕으로 각 공간은 교육성과 상징성을 동시에 전달합니다. 주변에 인공적인 맥락이 없는 이 땅에서 과학과 문화의 연결이 시작되고, 이 박물관은 향후 화성시 문화의 중심축이자 지역 콘텐츠 확산의 거점이 될 것입니다.

The Hwaseong Dinosaur (Natural) Science Center is a museum of time built upon the land where dinosaur fossils were discovered. It is planned so that the architecture itself becomes a massive natural history exhibit through a spatial composition inspired by the horizontality and verticality of geological strata and an organic arrangement that flows along the natural terrain. Transition spaces that draw in nature are placed between exhibition wings to induce emotional refreshment between the immersive indoor exhibits and the outdoor landscape, while the central courtyard functions as an integrated garden where the interior and exterior meet. The viewing route is designed with a narrative structure that leads from the era of dinosaurs to their extinction and finally to modern discovery; based on this, each space simultaneously conveys educational value and symbolism. In this land where no artificial context exists, the connection between science and culture begins, and this museum will serve as a future central axis for Hwaseong City’s culture and a hub for the expansion of regional content.
