Connecting Curves: 대지를 따라 흐르는 복지의 선(線)

강동노인종합복지관의 개념인 Connecting Curves는 대지가 지닌 비정형의 형상과 남·동·북 방향의 서로 다른 맥락을 하나의 흐름으로 이어 내는 곡선의 건축 언어에서 출발합니다.

대지 남측의 도시축, 동측의 두꺼비공원, 북측의 레벨차가 큰 주거지라는 서로 다른 조건이 만나는 경계에서, 본 계획은 연속·조화·완충의 곡선으로 대응하고자 했습니다. 이 곡선형 매스는 외부와 내부의 경계를 부드럽게 연결하며, 복지관이 지역을 향해 열리고 이어지는 건축적 태도를 구현합니다.

건축에서 시작된 곡선의 흐름은 외부로 확장되어 광장·정원·산책길·텃밭 등 테마가 있는 장소들을 형성하며, 어르신의 일상과 지역사회의 삶이 자연스럽게 만나는 복지의 선(線)으로 완성됩니다.

The concept of the Gangdong Comprehensive Senior Welfare Center, 'Connecting Curves,' starts from a curved architectural language that links the atypical shape of the site and the different contexts of the south, east, and north directions into a single flow.

At the boundaries where different conditions meet—the urban axis on the south, Toad Park on the east, and the residential area with a significant level difference on the north—this plan intended to respond with curves of continuity, harmony, and buffering. This curved mass softly connects the boundary between the exterior and interior, implementing an architectural attitude where the welfare center opens and connects toward the community.

The flow of curves originating from the architecture extends outward to form themed places such as plazas, gardens, trails, and vegetable gardens, completing as a line of welfare where the daily lives of the elderly and the life of the local community naturally meet.
